Dear Resident,
I am taking the opportunity of this newsletter to tell you of the result of the recent County Council elections held on 4 June 2009. As I am sure you are aware, I was successful in being returned for my 33rd year of representing you. The results were as follows:-
Bill Chapple Conservative 2,104 votes (62.8%)
Paul Hughes Lib Dem 652 votes (19.5%)

There are 7,586 voters on the electoral roll and the turnout was 44.4%.
May I thank everyone who voted for me and I assure everyone in the parish of Buckland that I will do my best to represent you whoever you voted for or indeed if you voted at all. If you need me please ring me on 01296 382095 during office hours.
Again many thanks to you all.

NEED A HAND?
As we get older, the home we live in can become more difficult to manage. Sometimes what we want is a friendly hand for all those DIY jobs, but at other times maybe you want to move to somewhere more manageable. Either way, Age Concern Bucks has support services to help. For D I Y jobs, call the Handyperson Service; the work is charged at a reasonable hourly rate plus materials. There is also a new painting & decorating service. For further details call Age Concern Bucks on 01296 431127, 145 Meadowcroft, AYLESBURY, Bucks HP19 9HH.
MOVING ON?
Moving home to somewhere more manageable can bring with it greater independence and a new lease of life. But it can be a daunting prospect, especially if you have lived in your current home for many years.
Age Concern Bucks have set up a service to support older people to move home, working in partnership with Seamless Relocation, and covering the whole package. For more information contact Seamless Relocation direct on 0208 621 3553, or call Age Concern Bucks on 01296 431127, 145 Meadowcroft, AYLESBURY, Bucks HP19 9HH. 3
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
The Buckland Annual Parish Meeting took place on Monday 27th April at 8pm in Buckland Village Hall. Fourteen members of the public attended, together with four parish councillors and the parish clerk. Steve Davis, a representative from Bucks County Council was also present, and answered many questions from residents regarding the new Household Waste Recycling Centre. The Centre was opened to the public on Monday 29th June 2009. The evening was friendly and informal, and ended with light refreshments. Further information is available from the Parish Clerk, Christine Jensen on bucklandpc@btconnect.com or 01296 626073.
GARDEN REFUSE
If you see any garden refuse which has been fly-tipped anywhere in the parish, would you please let the Clerk, Christine Jensen, know as soon as possible. Last autumn some garden refuse was fly-tipped near the bridleway between Buckland and Puttenham, close to Monks Court. This was not reported to Aylesbury Vale District Council for removal since it was not causing an obstruction. When the spring arrived, a clump of Japanese knotweed started to emerge from the fly-tipped refuse. The garden refuse has now been cleared by Aylesbury Vale District Council and Bucks County Council is arranging for the knotweed to be sprayed with weed-killer on a regular basis until it is eradicated. In order to avoid a repetition, the Parish Council will arrange for any fly-tipped garden refuse to be cleared as soon as possible. Christine’s contact details are: 626073 or email: bucklandpc@btconnect.com

BUCKLAND OLD SCHOOL TRUST

a) Secretary
This person would deal with the correspondence for the Trust which manages the Buckland Hall, be responsible for arranging the agenda for the two meetings each year and would take the minutes for them.
b) Treasurer/Booking Clerk.
This person would taking bookings for the use of the Buckland Hall and would maintain an effective booking system. This is a job which would suit someone who is a ‘people person’, but it also involves keeping accurate monthly accounts, paying bills, preparing the annual accounts for audit and completing the Charity Commissioners’ annual return.
If you think you could help us, please contact the Chairman, The Rev’d Elizabeth Moxley, by the 31 st August. DITCHES
A reminder to all residents - please ensure all ditches are kept free from litter, grass cuttings, vegetation, etc. Ditches are essential for drainage; if they become blocked, neighbours’ houses are likely to suffer flooding.
It also helps to keep the very pretty village of Buckland a very pleasant place in which to live. 8
